On October 6th, 2014 during the early morning hours members of the Hanover
Police Service were called to a residence in the 100 block of 11th Avenue to
investigate a break and enter. The investigation determined that two suspects
had entered the attached garage of the residence and were searching through the
vehicles when they were interrupted by the homeowner. The homeowner gave
chase on foot however the suspects escaped. Further investigation determined
other similar break-ins occurred in that neighbourhood the same night along with
several thefts from unlocked vehicles.
Hanover Police Service arrested an 18 year old male suspect from Mount Forest
for these crimes. He was charged with five counts of residential break and enter,
three counts of theft under $5,000 from motor vehicles, one count of attempted
theft under $5,000 from a motor vehicle and one count of theft from a delivery
company’s drop box.
The second suspect being sought by the Hanover Police Service in connection
with this investigation has since been arrested. With assistance from the public,
the Hanover Police Service located the second suspect in a residence in Hanover.
He has been identified as a 16 year old male from West Grey. The youth faces the
same list of charges as his co-accused. The suspect was processed on the
Hanover charges and later turned over to the South Bruce OPP in relation to
crimes that occurred in their jurisdiction.
The Hanover Police Service wants to thank the public for their assistance in this
investigation and wants to remind them to keep their homes and vehicles locked
and to report anyone acting suspiciously in their neighbourhood.
