Search Warrant Executed: Cook and Helsdon Face Firearms Charges

(ASHFIELD-COLBORNE-WAWANOSH, ON)- On Wednesday, June 20, 2012 members from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau, Provincial Weapons Enforcement Unit (PWEU), Huron County Crime Unit and the Huron County Property Crimes Unit executed a search warrant at a Huron County residence.

Shortly after 8:00 a.m. officers executed the warrant at a Hawkins Road address in the Municipality of Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh. As a result, police investigators seized two firearms, 79 rounds of ammunition and have charged five individuals.

Patrick COOK, age 73, from Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh, ON is charged with Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm, Possess Firearm with Altered Serial Number and Breach of Firearms Regulation contrary to the Criminal Code.
Charles COOK, age 53, from Central Huron, ON is charged with Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm, Possession of Weapon Obtained by Crime and Breach of Firearms Regulation contrary to the Criminal Code.
Ann HELSDON, age 47, from Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh, ON is charged with Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm, Possession of Weapon Obtained by Crime and Breach of Firearms Regulation contrary to the Criminal Code.
David HELSDON, age 53, from Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh, ON is charged with Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm, Possession of Weapon Obtained by Crime and Breach of Firearms Regulation contrary to the Criminal Code.
Richard HELSDON, age 22, from Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh, ON is charged with Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm, Possession of Weapon Obtained by Crime and Breach of Firearms Regulation contrary to the Criminal Code.

All five have been released from custody and have a scheduled court appearance on August 20, 2012 at Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.
