Sea-doo Operator Sent Back To Dock

(LAKE HURON, ON) – On August 8, 2013, members of the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Marine unit were patrolling the waters of Lake Huron when they encountered a brown Sea doo. Officers stopped the Sea doo and discovered that the operator wasn’t carrying the required safety equipment. 21 year old Justin GADSBY of Waterloo Region was charged under the Small Vessel Regulations for the safety equipment violations. He was sent back to the dock as it’s not only illegal; it’s unsafe to be out on the water without safety equipment. The Transport Canada Safe Boating Guide outlines the required safety equipment for your vessel. The guide can be viewed at http:www.tc.gc.ca/eng/marinesafety.

The South Bruce OPP is requesting anyone with information that can assist police to call 1-888-310-1122. Should you wish to remain anonymous, you can call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or send a web-tip to crimestop-gb.org, where you may be eligible to receive a cash reward of up to $2,000.
