Scott Barkley – Drunk Driving, Flight From Police

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – Failing to yield to a police car proved to be a costly mistake for a 48 year old male driver. On April 27, 2013 just after 12:40 a.m. a grey GMC Sierra pulled onto Bluewater Veterans Highway at the north end of Bayfield cutting off a police vehicle. The Huron County OPP officer activated his emergency lights and attempted to stop the driver. The driver failed to immediately stop and fled down Old River Road, eventually the driver pulled over at Sawmill Road. The driver was arrested for flight from police and it was quickly determined the driver was displaying signs he was impaired by alcohol. He was promptly arrested for impaired operation and was transported to the Huron OPP Detachment for breath tests. The driver failed to provide a sample of his breath upon demand by the officer.
