(Ottawa) The Ottawa Police Service East District Traffic unit will focus on a School zone enforcement campaign this week targeting school areas and school bus related offences for the start of school year 2014.
The objective of this campaign is to provide a safe environment for children, parents, school staff and local residents around the school zones. These proactive measures are to educate and re-enforce the safety of our community.
These initiatives support the larger Safer Roads Ottawa Program, a leading partnership between Ottawa Fire Services, Ottawa Paramedic Service, Ottawa Police Service, Ottawa Public Health and the Public Works Department committed to preventing or eliminating road deaths and serious injuries for all people in the City of Ottawa, through culture change, community engagement, and development of a sustainable safe transportation environment.
This is also a continuous effort for communities building a safer future for our children.
