School Bus Collision Sends Two To Hospital

(HURON EAST, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a 54 year old female following a crash early this morning. At 8:47 a.m. Huron County EMS and Huron County OPP officers responded to a two vehicle collision located east of Hensall at the intersection of Line 17 and Road 183.

Police investigation revealed a Buick Rendezvous was travelling westbound on Line 17 when the Buick Rendezvous driver failed to stop for a stop sign. The Buick entered the intersection and was struck by a school bus travelling southbound on Road 183.

A 68 year old male school bus driver from Zurich and a 14 year old female student from South Huron District High School were transported to South Huron Hospital with minor injuries. Four other passengers on the school bus were uninjured. As well, the female driver of the Buick Rendezvous was uninjured.

Both vehicles sustained moderate damage.

The driver of the Buick Rendezvous, Geja VELDMAN, 54, from Bluewater has been charged with Disobey Stop Sign – Fail to Stop contrary to section 136 (1)(a) Highway Traffic Act.
