Save Money On Hydro Scam Alert

(SOUTHERN BRUCE COUNTY, ON) – On April 16th, 2012 at 9:35 am, the South Bruce OPP received a report of an attempted scam from a resident of Arran Elderslie. A call was received on April 11th, 2012 from (760) 705 8888. The caller attempted to sell a $199 device to “save on your hydro bill”. When the device was refused, the caller stated the device was required by law. Attempts to call (760) 705 8888 result in a recording advising the call can’t be completed. This phone call highlights the creativity of scammers; there is no end to the schemes that they will try. The only sure thing is the scams will continue as billions of dollars are collected each year from unsuspecting Canadian victims. Always question the legitimacy of unsolicited phone calls, emails, faxes and letters.
