Saugeen Shores Police Press Releases – 26Oct2015 – 01Nov2015

Media Release – 26 October 2015 to 1 November 2015

26 Oct 2015,

9:15 am police responded to a break an enter complaint at a Port Elgin apartment. There was no evidence of forced entry. A quantity of fishing gear was stolen as well as two remote control helicopters and a quarter pound of marihuana. Yes a quarter pound of marihuana. No suspects, police are investigating.

3:24 pm police responded to a motor vehicle collision at Catherine and Waterloo St. A vehicle was southbound on Waterloo St and turned left onto Catherine St in front of a vehicle northbound on Waterloo St. and the vehicles collided. Ambulance attended and took the driver of the north bound vehicle to hospital. The driver of the south bound vehicle was charged with making a left turn and not providing the opportunity to avoid a collision.

4:47 pm an identity theft was reported to police. A person had their bank account compromised and had received some rejection letters from fraudulent credit card applications. When you observe something wrong with your accounts or suspect fraudulent activity do what this person did and call your bank or credit card company then call police.

28 Oct 2015

5:45 pm police responded to a shoplifting complaint at Canadian Tire. Video cameras captured the suspects and police are investigating.

8:54 pm police responded to a break and enter at a Port Elgin apartment. The door had been kicked off its hinges but nothing appears to have been stolen. Police are investigating.

29 Oct 2015

2:38 pm police responded to a motor vehicle collision at Green and Hilker St. A vehicle was west on Green St and was struck by a vehicle that was north on Hilker St and did not stop completely for the stop sign at Green St. No injuries, moderate damage. The driver of the offending vehicle was charged.

30 Oct 2015

10:28 am, police received a report of a fraud scam over Kijiji. A cleaning service with an add on Kijiji had been contacted to do a job on a local home. The owners of the business received a cheque to deposit and give the balance to a third party. Once at the bank the owners were advised the cheque was fraudulent. Police are investigating; the cleaning business is not out any money.

31 Oct 2015,

10:42 pm police were called to a residence where a party had got out of control and through the wonders of social media the party grew from 15 to 50. The crowd was sent on their way.

01 Nov 2015,

1:07 am police on routine patrol in Southampton located a number of road safety pylons that had been moved from the construction site. They also located a bench that had been damaged. No suspects.

1:20 am a member of the public notified police that a male party was pulling the flowers from planters along Goderich St. Upon arrival police observed the male drop a plant and walked away from the Coulter Parkette area. The 28 year old Saugeen Shores male now faces a charge of Mischief.

With the changing season and with the time change it is very dark while driving home at the end of the day. Be very cautious when driving, it is a tough time of year to see pedestrians. Drive safe.
