Saugeen Shores Police Press Release 30Jan – 05Feb2017

Media Release –– 30 January – 5 February 2017

30 Jan 2017,

12:44 pm police responded to a motor vehicle collision on Ivings Drive. A vehicle pulled out of the LCBO parking lot and struck an eastbound vehicle. No injuries.

31 Jan 2017,

10:31 am police responded to a motor vehicle collision at Green and Goderich St. A vehicle was travelling east on Green St and stopped for a red light at Goderich St. A second vehicle was also travelling east on Green St and struck the rear of the stopped vehicle. Minor damage to both vehicles and the driver of the stationary vehicle was taken to hospital with neck pain.

7:14 pm police conducted RIDE in Saugeen Shores. No violations, three Highway Traffic Act warnings were given.

1 Feb 2017,

3:36 pm police responded to a motor vehicle collision at Goderich and Gustavus St. Two school busses were traveling west on Gustavus St and the first bus stopped for a red light. The second bus could not stop and slid into the first bus. The damage was minor to both busses and none of the combined 50 students on the busses was injured.

3 Feb 2017,

2:34 pm police responded to a single vehicle motor vehicle collision at Waterloo and Joseph St. A vehicle was travelling north on Waterloo St and slid through the curve by Joseph St, left the roadway and struck a tree. The 17 year old driver received a bump to the head and was later taken by family to the hospital to be checked out.

9:46 pm police attended to the Saugeen Hospital and were advised by staff that there was an intoxicated person there who would not leave and was aggressive. Police arrested a 55 year old Saugeen Reserve male for public intoxication and he spent the night in the cell.

4 Feb 2017,

12:51 am police arrested a 47 year old Cambridge male downtown Port Elgin for public intoxication. The male was issued a ticked and turned over to a friend who took him home.

10:03 am police responded to a fraud complaint at the Southampton Home Hardware. Three days earlier a male purchased $6100 in patio furniture and it was found to have been done with a stolen credit card. A similar occurrence with what appears to be the same person occurred in Owen Sound. Police are investigating.

5 Feb 2017,

2:11 pm police conducted RIDE in Saugeen Shores, no violations.

5:07 pm police responded to a motor vehicle collision on Hwy #21 between two vehicles. Minor damage, no injuries.
