8:11 pm police responded to a mischief complaint. The rear of a vehicle had been keyed while parked at Pierson Field. No suspects.

12:01 am police were conducting RIDE in Southampton and conducted a traffic stop. The driver failed a roadside breath test and was taken to the police office for a breath tests. The 49 year old male from Florida provided readings of 220 mgms and 220 mgms. The legal limit is 80 mgms. The accused was held for a bail hearing, his licence was seized, he was served a 90 day ADLS drivers suspension and his rental vehicle was seized for 7 days.
9:16 am police responded to a report of a break and enter at Northport Public School. It appears entry was gained through an unlocked window. Staff is taking inventory to determine what if anything is missing. Police are investigating.
1:01 pm police were called to a dog bite that occurred near Highland and Market St the day before at Nodwell Park. After investigation is was found that the dog was properly vaccinated. The owner of the dog was charged under the Dog Owner Liability Act.
2:55 pm police were dispatched to Beachin to a shoplifting complaint. Two youth were apprehended by staff. Two 16 year-olds were warned for their actions.
We receive many complaints of speeders on Concession #10, both sides of Highway #21. Police are actively giving out speeding tickets in this area. My daughter Allison always says if you don’t want a speeding ticket don’t speed. Speed is regulated in certain areas due to safety concerns. Please drive safely.
11:19 pm police conducted RIDE in Port Elgin and issued three Highway Traffic Act warnings and one Liquor Licence Act warning.

5:28 am police received complaint of a vehicle parked between Bricker and Wellington St with the music blaring. The vehicle was located running and parked at an odd angle. There was a male behind the steering wheel who appeared to be in a stupor. It took some time for the officer to direct the person to place the vehicle in park and turn the vehicle off. The officer had to reach in and turn the vehicle off. The 28 year old Saugeen Shores male was charged with Impaired Driving and his vehicle was impounded for 7 days.
1:22 pm police and fire attended to a small electrical fire at a cottage in Gobles grove. The fire was extinguished, no injuries.
3:47 pm police conducted RIDE in Southampton, no violations.
10:58 pm police were dispatched because of safety concerns for a female walking in traffic in the north end of Southampton. The 53 year old Oxford Ontario female was arrested for public intoxication and lodged in the cells until sober.

6:09 am police responded to a break and enter at Gerry’s Fries. Entry was gained by breaking the takeout window. 7:49 am police responded to a Port Elgin residence to a vehicle entered and theft. An unlocked vehicle was entered and several credit cards and $80 cash was stolen.
9:14 am an unlocked bicycle was stolen overnight from an Elgin St residence.
10:14 am two unlocked vehicles were entered overnight. A set of keys was stolen.

10:08 am sometime overnight a laptop was stolen from a vehicle on Buckby Lane. The laptop was in the trunk but the vehicle was unlocked.
4:19 pm police conducted RIDE in Saugeen Township, no violations.
8:43 pm police conducted RIDE on County Rd #3 and four Highway traffic warnings were given.

7:37 am a Port Elgin resident woke on Saturday morning to find someone she did not know sleeping on her couch. Police woke the 27 year old Saugeen Shores male who was intoxicated and thought he was in a relative’s apartment. The male was arrested for Unlawfully in a Dwelling. He was too intoxicated to let go on his own accord and was taken and released to his parents and charged with public intoxication.
3:14 pm police were called to the Gobles Grove beach area to a report of a couple drinking on the beach and appeared to be performing sexual acts. Beer cans were located beside the couple and they appeared to be intoxicated. Police called a taxi for the pair and while waiting for the cab they began to argue. The male was arrested for public intoxication and the female was sent on her way in the taxi, the vehicle they came in was locked. The male was lodged in a police cell. At 5:10 pm police received report that the female had returned for her vehicle and left. Police located the vehicle being driven on Goderich St and the female driver from the earlier incident was arrested for Impaired Driving. At the police office the 56 year old Saugeen Shores female provided breath reading of 360 mgms, 320 mgms and 310 mgms. The legal limit is 80 mgms. She was taken to the hospital and checked out by a doctor. She was charged with Impaired Driving, Drive Over 80 mgms, issued a 90 day ADLS drivers licence suspension, and her vehicle was impounded for 7 days.
8:55 pm Saugeen Shores Police and OPP conducted RIDE in the north end of Southampton. Approximately 175 vehicles were checked, One Highway Traffic Act (HTA) ticket was issued along with nine HTA warnings.
11:07 pm police responded to Island and Albert St to a report that a stop sign had been pulled out of the ground by some teenagers. Officers were able to replace the sign. This is a very dangerous act and if identified the offenders will be charged with Mischief. Charges could be much worse if their actions were to have caused an accident at that location. This is something that is certainly worth having a chat with your kids about. The consequences of this action are too great compared to the fun of pulling the sign out of the ground or having a stop sign in your bedroom.
5 July 2015,
3:06 pm police responded to a car and motorcycle collision on Goderich St. A motorcycle following a car north on Goderich St could not stop in time when the vehicle stopped for a pedestrian. The motorcycle struck the rear of the vehicle at low speed and he dumped the bike on its side. No injuries.
7:58 pm police conducted RIDE in Saugeen Township, no violations.
