Saugeen Shores Police Press Release 26Sept – 02Oct2016

September 26, 2016

Police received a report of a missing person in Southampton. The missing female, age 26, was reported missing by a relative and had not been spoken to or seen for three days. Police investigated and the missing woman returned home safely on September 27th. She had just been away out of the area for a few days and all was in order.

September 27, 2016

Police investigated a complaint of harassment. The harassment resulted from a landlord and tenant dispute. A male, age 43 from Saugeen Shores was cautioned.

September 28, 2016

At 4:50am, police were dispatched to a suspicious person complaint on Gustavus Street. Police attended and checked the area with negative results.

Police received a report of an insecure property. A seasonal residence on Saugeen Beach Road was found with the door open. The residence was checked and all appeared in order. Police were able to secure the door properly.

September 29, 2016

A grey CCM Ice mountain bike was picked up on from Southampton.

Police are investigating the theft of a large air compressor from a farm in Saugeen Township.

R.I.D.E. checks were conducted on Railway Street. Approximately 62 vehicles were checked and there were no alcohol infractions.

September 30, 2016

A vehicle was damaged on Bruce Road 33 after a collision with a deer.

Police and Fire attended at a cottage fire on Peel Street in Southampton. There was no one home at the time of the fire. The cause of the fire appeared to be electrical. There were no injuries.

Police attended at a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Waterloo and Green Streets. There were two vehicles involved. A driver was charged with Fail to Yield. There were no injuries.

A male, age 32, from Saugeen Shores, was charged for stunt driving after he did a “burn out” on Waterloo Street. A police cruiser was in the area and observed the incident. The vehicle was impounded for seven days and his driver’s licence suspended for seven days.

October 1, 2016

At 1:20am, police were dispatched to a disturbance on Green Street. Two males had been observed fighting. A male, age 35 was arrested for public intoxication and held in custody until sober.

At 2:50am, police were dispatched to a disturbance on Morpeth Street in Southampton. Four males had been fighting in the street. They had separated and left the area before police arrival. Two males were spoken to but did not complain of an assault.

Police investigated a domestic assault in Port Elgin. A male, age 26, from Saugeen Shores was charged with assault, mischief and uttering threats.

A report was received on a lost iPhone 5 cell phone in a blue case. If found, please turn it over to Police.

October 2, 2016

At 1:00am, police dealt with a male who was observed knocking over road barriers that had been set up for pumpkinfest. The male, age 20, from Owen Sound was charged with being intoxicated in a public place.

At 1:15am, police arrested a male for being intoxicated in a public place on Goderich Street in Port Elgin. The male, age 36, from Tiverton was charged and held in custody until sober.

At 1:44am, police assisted security working at pumpkinfest who were dealing with an intoxicated person. A male, age 32, from Saugeen Shores was arrested and charged with being intoxicated in a public place. He was held in custody until sober.

At 1:30pm, police attended a motor vehicle accident on Waterloo Street at Biener Drive. A driver was charged with Failing to Yield. There were no injuries.

Police are investigating the theft of $500 cash from a farm located on Concession 2 in Saugeen Township.
