Sarnia Man Charged with Theft

The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man in connection with a theft investigation in Chatham.

Around 4:30 this morning, police responded to a theft at the Pioneer Gas Bar on Richmond Street. A man pulled in and pumped $72 of fuel into his car. The man spoke to the cashier, however drove away making no attempt to pay for the gas. Officers obtained physical descriptors of the man and vehicle.

A short time later, an officer on general patrol in Wallaceburg observed the vehicle travelling in the area of Baseline Road and Murray Street. The officer initiated a traffic stop and the man was arrested.

Kyle Thompson, 23 years, of Wiltshire Drive in Sarnia has been charged with theft under $5000 and possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000. He was released with conditions pending a future court date.
