In October of 2013, the Owen Sound Police Drug Unit initiated an investigation into drug trafficking in Grey County. Their investigation revealed a link between drug traffickers operating in the Owen Sound and Waterloo Region area. Given the span of this drug trafficking group, the Owen Sound Police Service partnered with the Waterloo Regional Police Service and collectively targeted members of this group.
The Owen Sound Police Service also sought some assistance from the Ontario Provincial Police. On Thursday the 28th of November 2013, three members of this drug trafficking group were arrested, and two Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrants were executed. One warrant was executed in Owen Sound on 12th Street West and one warrant was executed on Queen Street South in Kitchener.
Two of the arrested parties, Ryan SCOTT and Brandon STEWART, are currently Owen Sound residents. They are each facing two counts of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking a Controlled Substance.
The third arrested party, Christopher RADIC, is currently a Kitchener resident and has been charged with two counts of Trafficking a Controlled Substance. As a result of the arrests and search warrant executions 234 grams of cocaine, 680 grams of marihuana, scales and drug packaging materials were seized. The approximate street values of the drugs seized are $23,000 for the cocaine and $6800 for the cannabis marihuana. Over 17,000 in cash was also seized as offence related property.
