On October 12, 2009 at approximately 1:00 am a Huron OPP officer was patrolling on MacDonald Road in South Huron when he came upon a vehicle traveling slower than the norm. The officer stopped the vehicle to check on the sobriety of the driver. While speaking to the driver, the officer detected the odour of alcohol coming from the drivers’ breath and so he issued a demand for the driver to provide a roadside sample of his breath. The driver complied but the result was a fail. The driver was arrested for Drive with Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol and was taken to the Exeter OPP Detachment where he met with a qualified Intoxilizer Technician to supply two more samples of his breath for further testing. The results of the breath tests confirmed that the driver had a blood alcohol level which was over the legal limit of 80 milligrams.
As a result of the investigation, Russell Fisher (71) of South Huron has been charged with one count of Drive with Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol. He is scheduled to answer to his charge in Exeter Court on December 17, 2009. His licence was also suspended for 90 days as per statute.
