Robert Hardy – 100 Head of Cattle – Theft and Fraud Charges

(HURON COUNTY, ON) – In November of 2010 the Huron-Perth Cattle Feeders Co-operative Inc. contacted the OPP after discovering that over 100 head of cattle were missing from a Lucan farm run by one of their members. The investigation crossed from Middlesex County into Huron County but was led by the Middlesex OPP Crime Unit working in conjunction with the OPP Rural Agricultural Crime Team.

After a lengthy and detailed enquiry, it was confirmed that the cattle had been sold in the name of the farmer without the knowledge of the co-operative. As a result, Robert HARDY (64) of Exeter was arrested on January 26, 2011 and is now facing one count of Theft Over $5,000 and one count of Fraud Over $5,000. He will answer to his charges in the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich on March 21, 2011.
