A 33 year-old man was arrested early Monday morning after a police officer observed him acting in a suspicious manner near a downtown business.
Shortly after 3:00 a.m. the officer found the man hiding at the rear of Johnson Pumps & Motors Inc. located at 285-8th Street East. Further investigation revealed that the man had intended to break into the business.
This business had been broken into on four previous occasions during August and September and each time a quantity of float money was stolen. The accused had previously worked at the business and had inside knowledge regarding the location of the float money. Investigation indicated the suspect was responsible for all of the recent break-ins.
Robert Edward POINTON of Owen Sound is facing four charges of break enter and theft as well as one charge of attempt break and enter. He is being held in custody this morning pending a bail hearing.
