(Ottawa) — The Ottawa Police Service Robbery Unit has laid charges in connection to two weekend gas station robberies.
On January 9, 2016, at approximately 7:25 am, a lone male entered a gas station situated along the 1400 block of Woodroffe Ave. The suspect, armed with a knife, made a demand for cash and cigarettes. The suspect fled with an undisclosed quantity of both items. There were no injuries.
On the same date, at approximately 1:15 pm, the same suspect entered a gas station situated along the 100 block of Eagleson Rd. The lone male, armed with a knife, made a demand for cash, cigarettes and lottery tickets. The suspect fled with an undisclosed quantity of these items. There were no injuries.
On January 12, 2016, the suspect was located and arrested without incident. Stuart GATT, age 49 of Ottawa, is charged with the following offences:
two counts of robbery
two counts of possession of a weapon
one count of wearing a disguise
Mr. Gatt appears in court on January 13, 2016.
