(Ottawa) The Ottawa Police Service Robbery Unit has laid charges in connection with two recent robberies.
On July 11, 2013, at approximately 3:50am, four customers encountered a suspect at a downtown convenience store on Beausoleil Drive. A verbal confrontation occurred that ended in one of the customers being chased and then robbed of a baseball cap at knifepoint. There were no injuries.
On August 18, 2013, at approximately 8:00pm, a male victim attended a Murray Street apartment building after the sale of an item was negotiated on an on-line auction site. When the male attended an apartment to meet the female buyer, he was confronted by a male armed with a knife and metal bar. The victim was escorted back to his vehicle but was able to flee. He was robbed of a phone and a piece of furniture. There were no injuries.
On August 28, the two suspects were arrested at the Murray Street apartment without incident.
Dillion KELLEY, 20 years old, of Ottawa, has been charged with two counts of Robbery, and single counts of Forcible confinement, Possession of a weapon, Uttering threats, Theft under, and Breach of probation. He appeared in court on August 29, 2013 and remains in custody.
A 17 years old female (young offender) has been charged with Conspiracy, Robbery, Possession of a weapon, and Forcible confinement. She was released on a Promise to Appear in Youth Court on September 24, 2013.
