Barrie Police were quick on scene of a reported robbery at knifepoint, catching the suspect walking not far from the scene of the crime.
On Monday, November 28th, 2016 at 7:10pm police received a call from a citizen who was just flagged down by the 15-year-old victim. The victim stated he was to meet a male to buy contraband cigarettes in a city park on Jessica Drive, in the City of Barrie, when the male pulled a knife taking his cell phone and forcing him to the ground threatening to stab him. The victim was able to give descriptors and the name of the suspect who was located a short distance away on foot.
The 18-year-old Barrie male was arrested and charged with Robbery. Police also located a quantity of cocaine in the male’s possession and the charge of Possession of a Scheduled Substance was added. He was held for a bail hearing on Tuesday. The victim was not physically injured in the incident.
