Robbery At KFC – One Arrested After Struggle & Pursuit

At 12:45 pm today (26Aug) the Owen Sound Police Service responded to a robbery at the KFC Restaurant at 1001 3rd Avenue East, Owen Sound.

After police received the call and suspect description from restaurant staff, an officer attending to the area encountered the suspect in the 1300 block of 4th Avenue East. The officer approached and attempted to arrest the male. The suspect assaulted the officer and fled. Uniform officers and Detectives flooded the area and began a search. The suspect was eventually located in the 1300 block of 3rd Avenue East and arrested without incident.

The investigation revealed that the male had walked in KFC, disguised his face and demanded money from an employee at the front of the store. A small quantity of cash was obtained by the male and he fled northbound from the store. The employees of the store were not injured during the incident. The officer who was assaulted by the male did not require medical attention. Dustin BOLAN, 32 years of No Fixed Address is currently in custody and will attend a bail hearing on August 27th. BOLAN is charged with:

Robbery

Use Disguise during the commission of an offence

Assaulting a Peace Officer

Escape Lawful Custody

Possession of Methamphetamine
