Road Rager Intentionally Strikes Cyclist

On July 22nd 2016, at approximately 3:30 p.m., a road rage incident took place between a motorist and cyclist in the City of Kitchener. This incident escalated after the pair engaged in a verbal argument within a parking lot on College Street, Kitchener. Following the verbal argument, the motorist followed the cyclist out of a parking lot and intentionally struck him with his vehicle in the intersection of College street and Duke Street North, Kitchener.

The cyclist hit the windshield of the vehicle and was vaulted over a construction fence. The driver of the vehicle then proceeded to strike a parked car. The cyclist was transported to Grand River Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The 28 year old Waterloo male driver was also taken to Grand River Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver has been charged with Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle causing Bodily Harm and Assault with a Weapon. The driver has been held for a Show Cause Bail hearing. The incident is under investigation by the Waterloo Regional Police Traffic Branch.
