(BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) – Effective 3:00 pm on January 30, 2014, Bruce Peninsula Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have closed Bruce Road 9 from West Road to Lions Head. This closure is due to the high winds and large amount of drifting snow, visibility is extremely poor in the area.
Motorists are advised to stay off Bruce County Road 9 due to the closure.
The penalty for driving on a closed highway is a $110 fine and 3 demerit points, but the consequences can be far worse if you become involved in a collision, or stranded, in a white out
Numerous local residence are calling the Bruce Peninsula OPP Detachment for road and weather conditions and are reminded not call the local OPP Detachment or the Provincial Communications Centre in London for road/weather conditions. Dispatchers are busy answering “calls for serviceâ€Â. Do not call 9-1-1 unless you have a legitimate emergency.
