(Central Huron, ON) On August 16, 2009 at approximately 2:30 pm Huron OPP officers were dispatched to a call of a break & enter in progress at the Auburn Post Office. While officers were enroute to the call, police were updated that a young male was being detained for police.
When police arrived, they spoke to two residents who had witnessed the male commit the crime. They stopped the male as he exited the Post Office and awaited the arrival of officers. The male was taken into police custody and due to circumstances, the male was held in custody pending a Bail Hearing in Goderich on August 17th. The male stated that he had been checking his mail. The remainder of the building was secure.
As a result of the investigation, a 21 year old Auburn male is being charged with one count of Mischief Under $5000 and one count of Fail to Comply with Recognizance. He will be in court this morning.
The residents who assisted the police are commended for their actions in this incident.
