Between March 24, 2014 and April 14, 2014 there have been eight break and enters to residential homes occupied by students. In the majority of cases, unknown person(s) entered through an unlocked door and removed electronics including flat screen TVs and laptop computers.
The crime series is occurring in the area bounded by Central Avenue to Oxford Street East and Richmond Street to Talbot Street during the evening and night time hours, approximately 6:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. In several cases, occupants have been home and heard noises but made an assumption that it was roommates.
Residents should ensure that their doors are locked to discourage uninvited persons from entering. Any suspicious persons or activity should be reported to police immediately by calling 519-661-5670 or 911.
