(TOWN OF MINTO, ON) – On February 27, 2017 at approximately 7:49 p.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) attended an apartment complex on Main Street in Palmerston, Town of Minto in regards to an ongoing criminal investigation.
While there, officers observed a male party that was known to police and that was wanted on outstanding warrants. The male attempted to evade police by climbing out an apartment window, scaling a ledge and trying to gain entry into an adjacent apartment. He removed a screen and access was gained. The male made an effort to flee out the back door, however, turned himself in to police when he realized the building was surrounded.
He was arrested and searched and found to be in possession of break-in tools.
Further investigation revealed that he was also breaching conditions of a probation order and recognizance.
41-year-old Steve BOYCE of Palmerston has been charged with the following Criminal Code Offences:
Possession of Break-in Instruments
Break Enter a Dwelling With Intent to Commit Indictable Offence
Mischief Under $5000
Fail to Comply with Probation Order
Fail to Comply with Recognizance
He was held in custody for a Bail Hearing.
