Repeat Offender Derek SEIP Was Arrested Again

(ARRAN-ELDERSLIE, ON) – On August 19, 2025, at approximately 6:12 p.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of an individual entering vehicles at night in the Town of Chesley. While investigating the initial complaint, police learned of numerous incidents involving the same individual over approximately a 3-year period.

Officers spoke with numerous residents and obtained grounds for several offences taking place in the Chesley area. On August 31, 2025, the individual was arrested after a lengthy engagement with police, bringing a large police presence to a residence along 1^st Avenue North in Chesley. Members of the South Bruce OPP, OPP Canine, Crisis Negotiators, and the West Region Emergency Response Team (ERT) were involved.

Between multiple incidents, Derek SEIP, 31-years-old, resident of Chesley, has been charged with:

• Fail to comply with probation order, CC 733.1(1) – 9 counts
• Fail to comply with release order, CC 145(5)(a) – 4 counts
• Fail to comply with undertaking, CC 145(4)(a)
• Mischief, CC 430(1)(c) – 8 counts
• Trespassing at night, CC 177 – 3 counts
• Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose, CC 88
• Utter threats, CC 264.1(1)(a) – 2 counts

The accused was held for a bail hearing on August 31, 2025, and subsequently remanded into custody.
