On March 30, 2016 Waterloo Regional Police and Kitchener Fire Department attended a grass fire at McLennan Park, located at 901 Ottawa St. South in Kitchener. Kitchener Fire Department was able to control and extinguish the quick spreading fire, which burned approximately 1/3 of the large hill within the park. Several witnesses provided both fire and police with a description and photograph of a suspicious male observed leaving the immediate area of the fire quickly. Through investigation, on May 10, 2016, Detectives arrested and charged a 39 year old Kitchener man, with arson and breach of probation. He was held for a bail hearing. Waterloo Regional Police would like to thank the community for their assistance in this investigation.
