Repeat Offender Busted For Drunk Driving

(BLUEWATER, ON) – A 61-year-old from Huron East will be making a court appearance later this fall following his recent arrest for Impaired Driving. On August 21, 2015 around 7:30 p.m. Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers received information about a male that had just been dropped off by a taxi cab driver at a vehicle parked on Huron Road in Goderich. The witnesses further reported the intoxicated male got into the Pontiac and drove away.

Officers began patrolling for the suspect vehicle and just before 8:00 p.m. a Huron OPP officer spotted the suspect vehicle travelling eastbound on Kippen Road. The officer followed the vehicle and observed the vehicle swerving on the roadway. The officer initiated a traffic stop and the driver pulled into a private driveway on Kippen Road. Upon stopping the vehicle the driver exited his vehicle and spoke with the officer. The investigating officer observed several signs that the driver was impaired by alcohol and an arrest for Impaired Operation was made. The driver was taken into custody and subsequently transported to the Huron OPP Detachment for breath tests. He provided two samples of his breath to the qualified Intoxilizer Technician and both samples registered over the legal limit.

61-year-old Neil LOCKHART from Huron East has been charged with Impaired Driving and Drive Motor Vehicle – Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol. He has been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich on October 5, 2015. He also received an automatic 90 day driver’s licence suspension and his motor vehicle was impounded for seven days
