The Owen Sound Police Service have arrested and charged a male with multiple counts of theft
after executing a search warrant at his downtown apartment. Police began investigating the male
after he was identified as a suspect for stealing money from numerous coin operated laundry machines.
The accused would enter insecure laundry rooms at several Owen Sound apartment complexes and use various tools to gain access to the machines money storage compartment and then steal the deposited coins. On Tuesday March 14 th , 2017 members of the Owen Sound Police Community Oriented Response and Enforcement Unit (CORE), and the Criminal Investigation Branch executed a residential search warrant to arrest the accused and search for evidence. A small quantity of the stolen money was located in addition to the tools used by the accused to break into the machines and marihuana.
A 28 year old year old Owen Sound male has been charged with the following offences:
-Theft under $5000.00 (3 counts)
-Possession of Property Obtained by Crime (3 Counts)
-Possession of a Coin-Operated Device Breaking Instrument (3 Counts)
-Possession of Marihuana
-Failing to Comply with Probation (4 Counts)
The accused was held for a bail hearing on March 15 th , 2017.
