Repeat Offender Arrested In Howick For Drug Trafficking – Name Released

(HOWICK, ON) – A 35-year-old from West Grey is facing a number of drug trafficking charges following a traffic stop that took place at the end of December. On December 28, 2016 at 1:19 a.m. Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and South Bruce OPP officers received a report from a concerned citizen that a Honda Civic was parked in a live lane of traffic facing the wrong way on Fordwich Line.

A short while later a South Bruce OPP officer located the Honda Civic parked on Fordwich Line near Lakelet Road. The officer spoke with the driver and upon identifying the driver it was learned the driver had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. The driver was immediately taken into custody and searched. Upon searching the male the investigating officer seized a quantity of suspected cocaine, methamphetamine and steroids. Officers also determined the male was failing to comply with conditions of his previous court release.

As a result, 35-year-old Kent FRIESEN from West Grey has been charged with three counts of Fail to Comply with Recognizance and three counts of Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purposes of Trafficking. He remains in custody with a video court appearance scheduled for January 10, 2017 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.
