Repeat Offender Arrested In Goderich For Drunk Driving – Name Released

(GODERICH, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has arrested and charged a 31-year-old male from Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh following an early morning incident that took place in Goderich last weekend.

At approximately 1:45 a.m. on Saturday, February 18, 2017 Huron OPP officers were dispatched to a restaurant located on Victoria Street South in Goderich to deal with a rude and intoxicated patron that was causing problems for staff inside the restaurant.

Upon arrival officers were able to determine the male had driven to the restaurant in a Ford Fusion and it was noticed the male had indeed consumed some alcohol. As a result the male provided a roadside sample of his breath to the investigating officer and his test resulted in a fail. He was immediately transported to the Huron OPP Detachment where he provided two samples of his breath to a qualified Intoxilizer Technician; both of his samples registered over the legal limit. Subsequent investigation revealed the male was failing to abide by a condition of an earlier court release to abstain from the consumption of alcohol.

Consequently, Justin ARMSTRONG, 31 years of age from Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh has been charged with Drive Motor Vehicle with Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol and Fail to Comply with Recognizance. He remains in custody with a video court appearance scheduled for February 23, 2017 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich. He also received an automatic 90-day driver’s licence suspension and his vehicle was towed and impounded.
