Repeat Offender Arrested In Goderich – Assault, Methamphetamine, Breach, etc

(GODERICH, ON) – An incident that took place at a local motel this past weekend has resulted in a 37-year-old male finding himself arrested and charged with several criminal offences. Just before 1:00 a.m. on Sunday, March 6, 2016 Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a Bayfield Road motel after the manager called in to police reporting problems with a customer in the front lobby.

The manager attempted to process the room rental transaction with a credit card that had been supplied by an acquaintance of the accused. The credit card was declined and the manager refused to rent them a room. At that point the accused began yelling and screaming at the manager and he started throwing things around the lobby. The manager tried to call police from the lobby however the irate customer then assaulted the manager and further; he tried to prevent the manager from calling police. The manager had to leave the lobby in order to call police. The upset customer then left the lobby and slammed the door behind him so hard it caused minor damage to both the door and door frame.

Within minutes Huron OPP officers arrived on scene and located the accused on the motel property. He was placed under arrest and taken into custody without incident. Upon searching the male officers located a quantity of methamphetamine in his pocket. Additionally, once the male was identified it was determined he was currently serving a probation sentence.

As a result, 37-year-old Timothy RENAUD, from Goderich has been charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine), Assault, Mischief Under $5,000 and two counts of Fail to Comply with a Probation Order. He remains in custody with a court appearance scheduled for the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich on March 18, 2016.
