Repeat Offender Arrested For Assault With Weapon, Drugs, etc – Name Released

(CHESLEY, ON) – On August 4, 2015 at 5:18 p.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of an assault along 1st Ave south in Chesley. Officers arrived to find that two men were involved. The first had used a weapon to assault the other and the victim was transported to hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Officers located the suspect and discovered the man was also involved in a break, enter and theft at Big County Burger in Chesley between 4:30 p.m. on August 2, 2015 and 10:00 a.m. on August 3, 2015.

Twenty-five-year old Eric SIMMONS of Hanover has been charged with 2 counts of assault with a weapon, possess a controlled substance, possess stolen property and breach of probation. He has been held in custody pending the results of a show cause hearing on August 5, 2015.
