At the 19Jan2016 council meeting, current Reeve neil vincent was furious with a member of the Public that dared to question where the money goes. Reeve vincent screamed at the curious Citizen, ‘WE’RE DONE”. When the Citizen agreed to be silent and calmly sat down while saying “I’m going to shut my mouth now” NH Reeve vincent screamed at the Citizen “GET OUT!”
The Resident filed the paperwork to a be a “delegation” which would allow him to address council. Council claims getting rid of Public & Press questions is totally fine since they currently “allow” delegations to address council, so the Public can freely offer input during that portion of the meeting and be trivialized, oppressed and ignored then.
We do not live in a municipality where representatives will show great respect for someone that took time out of their day to fill out the paperwork, jump through their hoops, climbed the snowbank to get from the street into town hall just to participate in our Democracy. That’s why we need the Ombudsman.
