Rash Of Thefts Keep Owen Sound Police Busy

On Tuesday May 17, 2016 at approximately 3:45pm police responded to Wal-Mart located at 1555 18 th Avenue East Owen Sound in regards to a theft. Police learned that a 51 year old Dobbinton female walked out of the store with $473.00 of merchandise that she had not paid for. The female was arrested for theft. Police further learned that the female was already on a court release for similar charges and was subsequently held for a bail hearing.

At approximately 7:30pm police were called to investigate a theft at Zehrs located at 1150 16 th Street East Owen Sound. Police learned that two youths had just stolen a quantity of merchandise and left the store. Police located the two youths responsible (15 year old male and 13 year old female), both were arrested for theft and possession of property obtained by crime. They were later released to their parents with a June 2016 court date.

At approximately 9:00pm police received a complaint of a break and enter from the previous day.

Police were able to identify a 14 year old local male as the person responsible for the break and enter. Some of the stolen items have been recovered and are being returned to the victim. Police are currently looking for this male and expect to make an arrest.
