(HURON EAST, ON) – A 61 year old Seaforth man found himself providing breath tests to police yesterday afternoon (21Apr) after he was stopped in Seaforth. Shortly after 2:30 p.m. a Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer stopped the driver of a Chevrolet pickup truck for the traffic violation of driving a motor vehicle without functioning brake lights. The pickup truck was stopped on Main Street South at John Street.
Upon speaking with the male driver officers noted the driver had been consuming alcohol. A roadside screening test was performed which resulted in a fail for the driver. He was placed under arrest and was transported to the Huron Detachment for breath tests. He subsequently provided two samples of his breath to a qualified Intoxilizer Technician and both samples registered over the legal limit.
As a result, 61 year old Randy WOOD from Seaforth has been charged with Drive Motor Vehicle – Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol. He has a court appearance scheduled for the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich on June 1, 2015. He also received an automatic 90 day driver’s licence suspension and his motor vehicle has been impounded for seven days.
