Ralph Melvin – Theft Of Car

(ST.MARYS, ON) On Wednesday evening October 12, 2011 Perth County OPP officers were dispatched to a nursing home in St.Marys where an employee reported the theft of a car from the staff parking lot.

From information obtained it was revealed that the owner had left the vehicle keys in her purse inside the unlocked car. An immediate police broadcast was made and another OPP officer remembered observing the stolen vehicle earlier in the afternoon. This officer was able to provide the identity of the male driver. Officers looked for the male suspect in St.Marys and London but were unable to locate him. A warrant was issued for his arrest.

On Thursday October 13, 2011 the stolen car was recovered on a residential driveway at a Water St. South address in St.Marys. At 6 p.m. on Thursday officers in St.Marys were called to a downtown restaurant where an intoxicated male was creating a disturbance. Upon police arrival the intoxicated male was identified as the suspect in the theft of the stolen car. The male was arrested and held at the Perth County OPP Detachment in Sebringville until sober at which time he was released on a Promise to Appear.
