R.I.D.E. INITIATIVE SET TO LAUNCH OPERATION IMPACT

(BRUCE-GREY COUNTIES, ON) – Operation Impact runs from October 5 until October 8, 2012. As police services across Canada prepare for Operation Impact, Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers of Grey and Bruce Counties are marking the launch with a joint R.I.D.E. initiative. Officers from the South Bruce OPP, Bruce Peninsula OPP and Grey County OPP will be staffing the R.I.D.E. checkpoints with the support of the OPP Mobile Command Unit (MCU). The detachments have joined together to send a unified message; “Impaired driving is a criminal act that has caused enough death on Ontario’s roads”. The R.I.D.E. officers will be meeting the OPP MCU at the No Frills parking lot along Sunset Strip on October 5, 2012 at 6:30 pm. The media is invited to the No Frills parking lot to meet with officers and help promote sober driving.
