Officers from the Barrie Police Service conducted a RIDE detail over several locations in the City. A total of 425 vehicles were stopped and as a result ove driver was arrested for Impaired Driving and four were charged with Driving Over 80mgs. Twelve roadside tests were conducted and four A.D.L.S. Suspensions for 90 days were issued. The result of this RIDE was very disappointing due to the number of arrests made. The Barrie Police will continue to conduct RIDE spot checks at all times during the week, days and nights alike. This is a reminder to all drivers that if you intend on drinking, find an alternative means to get home. You can utilize public transit, take a taxi, use a designated driver or a driving service. The Barrie Police remain committed to road and pedestrian safety.
There were approximately 9 motor vehicle collisions reported to the Barrie Police between noon on Saturday, December 21st to date. Again, be mindful of the road conditions and drive accordingly and most importantly, always arrive at your destination safely.
