Public Assistance Request, Two Dog Incidents

The Grey Bruce Health Unit is seeking assistance from the public in finding the owner’s of two dogs involved in two separate incidents over the long weekend in Owen Sound.

The first incident occurred in Harrison Park on Saturday May 16 between 3:00 & 4:00 p.m. A Man was walking in Harrison Park near the seniors building and basketball courts. He came upon a woman and her young (red) boxer which is believed to be about 9 Months old, the dog was on its lead. When he petted the dog its claw caught his arm and scratched him breaking the skin.

The second incident occurred on the Rail Trail near 28th Street West just outside Owen Sound onSunday May 17 around 11 a.m. A lady was bitten while riding her bike on the Rail Trail. A lady with a school aged child was walking with her 2 dogs, off leash. The medium sized multi-coloured dog (white, black and brown) bit the cyclist. The second dog was larger and bronze in colour but was not involved in the incident.

Staff of the Grey Bruce Health Unit need to confirm the dogs are not infectious with rabies. By verifying the health of the dogs, the victims can avoid receiving the post-exposure rabies treatment.
