Deputy Reeve james campbell, from North Huron’s East-Wawanosh ward, joked and laughed about Wingham police overtime with current Wingham Police Chief Tim Poole at the budget meeting. We all know we are overpaying for policing, but james campbell doesn’t need to literally laugh and joke about it. This is just one of the cancerous side-effects of our last amalgamation, councillor’s apathy toward the other wards.
I assume james campbell finds it hilarious since his constituents don’t have to pay for Wingham Policing, as policing costs are area-rated. The chief of police stated he wished more people would plead “not guilty”, likely because the overtime is VERY lucrative to the Wingham officers, and helped put them on the sunshine list for making over $100,000/year (excluding benefits).
Wingham Police Chief Tim Poole stated they get overtime pay when people fight traffic tickets, etc. Chief Poole twice stated that he wanted more people to plead “not guilty”.
In Wingham we have a system that rewards the Wingham Police with exorbitant overtime pay for ticketing and charging INNOCENT people. If you listen to the audio clip below, you will realize that our chief of Police may not even know the difference between “guilty” and “not guilty”.
