8:34 am police responded to a residence in Southampton to a report of a theft. Sometime overnight a surveillance camera mounted on an outbuilding was stolen. No suspects.

10:56 am police responded to a collision between two vehicles in a parking lot in Southampton. Minor damage, no injuries.

4:13 pm police responded to an intoxicated person at McDonalds. The male had a burn to his face and was transported to hospital for treatment.

3:08 am police were dispatched to the Briarwood area of Port Elgin to a report of a male person dressed in black attempting to enter residences. The man was located and was heavily intoxicated. After investigation is appears the man was just trying to locate his residence but was too intoxicated to get the right home. The male was arrested for public intoxication and taken home and turned over to his parents.

9:10 am police responded to a motor vehicle collision at Waterloo and Gustavus St. A vehicle was south on Waterloo St approaching Gustavus, another vehicle west on Gustavus St and tried to stop for the stop sign but slid into the intersection colliding with the other vehicle. The offending driver was charged with failing to stop at the stop sign.

1:12 pm police responded to a dog bite call in Southampton. A person walking her dog in Southampton had another dog run off it’s property and bite her dog. The bitten dog received veterinary care and stitches. The dog owners came to a resolution.

3:50 pm police were called by the OPP to a possible impaired driver that had left a minor motor vehicle collision on Saugeen Reserve. The vehicle was located driving erratically in Port Elgin and stopped. The male driver was arrested for impaired driving and brought to the station for breath tests. The male provided readings of 330 mgms and 310 mgms approximately four times the legal limit of 80 mgms. Stephen ALLEN 51 years of Saugeen Shores was charged with Impaired Driving, Drive Over 80 mgms, his vehicle was impounded for 7 days and he received a 90 day ADLS, drivers licence suspension.

6:46 pm sometime overnight someone pulled a wreath off of a door on a home in Port Elgin causing minor damage to the door, no suspects.

9:51 pm police assisted a person who went into the ditch on Sideroad 18-19, no damage, no injuries.

3:14 police responded to a Port Elgin business to a report of an intoxicated person refusing to leave. The male was able to care for himself and was sent on his way.

3:15 pm police received a complaint of harassment over social media and FaceBook.

Harassment can be in many forms including postings on social media sites. There are many ways people can help themselves in the first place. There are many controls on these various sites and quite often people cannot enter or post on your site if you have not “friended” them or given them some permission. Make sure you know and use the controls available on the internet and social media sites.

11:42 pm police attended to a fail to remain motor vehicle collision in the Mac’s parking lot in Port Elgin. A small gold vehicle struck a vehicle in the Mac’s lot and left. No licence plate was acquired. No suspects.

3:53 pm police arrested a 34 year old Saugeen Shores male on a warrant that was issued for not attending court on charges of driving under suspension. The male is to spend ten days in jail.

4:00 pm police attended a motor vehicle collision at Bruce and Mill St. No injuries, police are investigating.

9:52 pm police stopped a vehicle in Port Elgin for erratic driving. The driver was arrested for impaired driving and taken to the police office for breath tests. The male provided readings of 280 mgms and 270 mgms, the legal limit is 80 mgms. Daniel CONRAD, 46 years of Saugeen Shores faces charges of Impaired Driving, Drive Over 80 mgms, Drive with an expired licence, his vehicle was impounded for 7 days and he was issued a drivers licence suspension for 90 days under the ADLS program. The man was turned over to his sister for care, but on the way to her house he jumped from the vehicle. Police located the male on Bruce Rd #40, arrested him for public intoxication and he spent the night in the cells until sober.

4 Jan 2015,

2:34 am police observed a male staggering on Albert St and falling into the snow bank. The 37 year male was very intoxicated and arrested for public intoxication. His mother picked him up from the police office.

2:26 pm a person at Denneys Dam observed someone smash a rear window out of a vehicle and leave in a red and silver pick up. No licence plate was acquired, no suspect description.

10:46 pm police responded to a vehicle in the ditch on County 17. The vehicle was towed out. No injuries.

11:29 pm police received a report of a vehicle in the ditch at Bruce Rd 3 and Doll Sideroad. No injuries the vehicle required a tow.
