7:24 am police responded to a report of an unlocked vehicle entered overnight on Mill St. a Bruce Power ID tag was stolen.
Over the past week we have had reports of several “election signs†either damaged or stolen. This involves several different candidates. This is a criminal offence and the person(s) responsible could face charges of Mischief or Theft.

5:53 pm police responded to a report of a mischief to a vehicle. It is believed that while parked at the municipal lot at Bricker and Gustavus St someone scratched the side of a van.

4:27 pm police responded to a theft complaint at McDonalds. A person accidentally left her wallet on a table at McDonalds. A staff member found the wallet and called the person who lost the wallet. Between leaving the wallet and having it returned to her $200 was missing from inside. No suspects.
6:18 pm police responded to a break and enter to a Port Elgin home. A paint gun, Xbox and games were stolen. After investigation the police determined the culprit, an acquaintance of the resident of the home. All property was returned with an apology. No charges.
7:55 pm police received a complaint of a Fail to Remain motor vehicle collision in the Subway parking lot. A person observed one vehicle back up and strike another and left the scene. The person took down the licence plate of the vehicle that left. The driver was identified and charged with Failing to Report an Accident.

12:58 pm police responded to a gas drive off at the Petro Can on Goderich St. A female party pumped $54.05 worth of gas left. The store video captured her licence plate. Police are investigating.
3:34 pm police responded to a fail to remain motor vehicle collision that occurred in the parking lot of Port Elgin Saugeen Central. A witness observed the collision and recorded the licence plate. The vehicle and driver were identified and the driver was charged with Failing to Report an Accident.
2:17 am, police on foot patrol in downtown Port Elgin observed two females smoking marihuana. The two turned over two more marihuana joints for destruction and were cautioned and sent on their way.
2:50 am police on foot patrol in the downtown core of Port Elgin observed a woman walking in the middle of Goderich St and observed a taxi swerve around her so as not to strike her. The female was arrested for public intoxication and taken home and turned over to her mother.

3:52 am police received information of a marihuana grow-op at a Port Elgin residence. Police executed a warrant to search the residence and did so on the 5th of October. In total 37 marihuana plants were seized along with hydroponic equipment and a small quantity of dried marihuana. A 29 year old male and 25 year old female both of Saugeen Shores face Production of Marihuana charges.
1:05 pm police responded to the theft of a child’s gas powered ATV from a residence in Southampton. No suspects.

12:52 am as a result of a traffic stop police observed drug related items in a vehicle. A search of the vehicle caused police to seize 18 Fentanyl patches. A 29 year old Saugeen Reserve male faces charges of Possession for the Purposes of Trafficking.
11:20 pm police observed a vehicle stopped on the CAW road and police stopped to see if assistance was needed. Police observed the odour of marihuana and located 8.2 grams of marihuana in the vehicle. A 27 year old King City man was released on possession charges.
Please take extra care when driving at dusk. It is getting darker much earlier and it is very hard this time of year to see pedestrians. Slow down, stop fully at stop signs, don’t use your cell phone, and drive defensively.
