Press Release – 14 July 2014 to 20 July 2014

14 Jul 14,

7:30 am police responded to a vehicle entry and theft on Grey St where an Ipod and some change was taken, the vehicle was not locked.

10:47 am police responded to the Grey St area where it was reported that four skateboard scooters were stolen from the front yard. The scooters were not locked. One was located by the complainant and another had already been turned into police and was in the pen. There are still two outstanding scooters.

11:22 am police responded to a vehicle entry and theft of a Tom Tom GPS, the vehicle was parked in the Albert St area.

12:41 pm police responded to a complaint of an unlocked bicycle taken from the front porch of a residence on Mohawk Drive.

16 July 2014,

12:17 am police responded to the Bay St area to a theft of two electric scooters.

8:17 pm, police responded to a motor vehicle collision at Bricker and River St. A vehicle was north on Bricker St, another vehicle was east on River St and went through the stop sign striking the north bound vehicle. Ambulance attended but no one required medical attention. The driver of the offending vehicle was charged with going through a stop sign.

11:43 pm police responded to a dryer fire on Breadalbane St. Police ensured the residence was empty and the Fire Dept extinguished the fire.

17 July 2014,

12:22 pm a cyclist was travelling north on the west sidewalk of Goderich St. A vehicle was east on Ivings Drive and stopped at Goderich St past the stop line. The cyclist struck the side of the vehicle. The cyclist received a sore leg. No charges are pending as both operators shared some responsibility for the collision.

8:08 pm police responded to a found bicycle along Green St, the bicycle had been stolen from near the Wismer a few days previously. The bike was returned to the owner.

18 July 2014,

10:05 police responded to a report of a break enter and theft to a garage on Bradford St. sometime over the past two weeks. Two bicycles were stolen. The owner of the bikes saw one of the stolen bikes in the police lock up. One bike was retuned and one stolen bike is still outstanding.

7:56 pm police arrested a 40 year old Saugeen Reserve man in Southampton on a warrant for assault held by the Ontario Provincial Police. The man was turned over to the OPP.

9:56 pm police conducted RIDE in Port Elgin, 45 vehicles were checked with no infractions noted.

10:53 pm police cautioned 3 males at Bruce St for having open liquor.

19 July 2014,

4:40 pm police responded to a theft of a bicycle on Knowles Lane. The bicycle was not locked.

7:30 pm police responded to a single vehicle motor vehicle collision on Bruce Rd #13. A vehicle was south on Cty #13 lost control and struck a sign in the west ditch causing extensive damage to his vehicle. The driver was charged with Careless Driving and his vehicle had to be towed from the scene.

7:48 pm police received a report of two bicycles being stolen from the Devonshire St area sometime over the past week.

10:55 pm police conducted RIDE in Southampton, 30 vehicles were checked with no infractions noted.

20 July 2014,

3:11 pm police responded to a theft complaint at the Canadian Tire Store. A male was seen changing the packaging on some expensive automotive belts and purchased the belts at a cheaper price. The male was captured on video and had left his name when special ordering the belts in the first place. A 34 year old Saugeen Shores man faces theft charges.

11:07 pm police observed a 32 year old Paisley man breaching conditions of bail by being in the drivers seat of a vehicle. He was charged.
