11 Aug 2014,

8:46 am police responded to a motor vehicle collision on Albert St Southampton. A vehicle was south on Albert St following another vehicle. The lead vehicle stopped at Thompson Lane and was rear ended by the second vehicle. No injuries. One vehicle had to be towed from the scene. The offending driver was charged with Following too Closely.

12:02 pm police responded to a motor vehicle collision on Carlisle St. Police, fire and ambulance attended. A driver was operating a vehicle on Carlisle St and lost control leaving the roadway and striking a hydro pole. The male was extracted from the vehicle and taken to the Southampton Hospital by ambulance. The driver was treated and released.

2:12 pm police responded to a theft of a tow bar from a vehicle on Bluewater Dr. The theft was believed to have occurred sometime overnight.

3:16 pm police responded top a report of a male who appeared to be masturbating in the men’s washroom at the Port Elgin beach at the bottom end of Green St. Through the assistance of another male who saw this person police were able to locate the responsible male and identify him. Police spoke to the responsible person and are investigating if charges are warranted.

8:11 pm police attended to a gas drive off at the Canadian Tire Gas Bar of $55, a licence plate was acquired and after Saugeen Shores Police had the OPP attend to a Hepworth St address the bill was paid.

12 Aug 14,

3:52 am police received a report of an intoxicated male banging on the windows of McDonalds trying to get in. The 31 year old intoxicated male had no where he could be taken where someone could care for him in his state so spent the night in jail.

11:08 am police attended to the Beausoleil Road area to a report of two men yelling. While enroute to the area police received a second call of an assault occurring at the Beer Store parking lot. Police found the two incidents to be one and the same. After investigation no charges were laid.

14 Aug 14,

3:07 am police responded to a report from a cab driver that he took a fare from Hanover to Port Elgin and the two did not pay for their ride. After investigation by police and identifying the male parties the bill was paid.

2:18 pm police received a report of graffiti having been spray painted on the outside of a building in Southampton. The graffiti had already been cleaned up.

3:04 police received a complaint of an attempted fraud. The complainant received a phone call they had won 1.5 million dollars and only needed to send $2040 through Moneygram to an address in the Philippines. The complainant did not send cash.

Remember there is no free money, winning a draw you never entered cannot happen, it does not cost money to win money, if is sounds too good to be true you are right, if all your relatives in a foreign county all die at once you will not receive an email riddled with spelling mistakes asking for your banking information so you can get millions, save your hard earned money.

6:30 pm police responded to a gas drive off at the Canadian Tire Gas bar for $118, the licence plate was acquired and a call to the registered owner had the person return to pay.

15 Aug 14,

11:56 am police attended to Books and Things II on Goderich St to a report of an attempted break and enter. While opening the store the front lock appeared damaged and upon checking the video observed two males at the front door of the store at about 7:30 pm. One male appeared to be working on the lock and the other was a lookout. Police are investigating; no entry was gained into the store.

9:19 pm police received a report of an intoxicated male laying on North Rankin St. Police located an intoxicated male who had a bump and blood on his head. The male was cleared by a doctor for his injuries and spent the night in jail until sober.

16 Aug 14,

9:02 am police responded to a fail to remain accident on County Rd #17. Tire tracks leading into the ditch and a grey vehicle bumper was left behind. The vehicle appears to have been travelling west crossed the road and entered the ditch. No suspects.

11:56 am police responded to a three vehicle motor vehicle collision on Goderich St near Tomlinson Drive. A vehicle was south on Goderich St at Tomlinson Drive and was struck by a northbound vehicle on Goderich turning left in front of it. The southbound vehicle then struck another vehicle entering the roadway. The driver of the northbound vehicle was charged with failing to yield.

3:36 pm police responded to a shoplifting complaint at the Southampton Market. After investigation and cooperation from the boys and parents the boys agreed to a few hours of community service.

10:24 pm police conducted RIDE in Southampton. A female driver who had a smell of alcohol on her breath failed a roadside test and was taken to the police office for a breathalyzer. The driver provided readings of 150 mgms and 140 mgms the legal limit is 80 mgms. Dawn Harland, 73 years of Saugeen Shores was charged with Over 80 mgms, her licence suspended for 90 days under the ADLS system.

17 Aug 14,

1:53 am police responded to a report of a mischief at Green and Goderich St. A storage box containing tents and signs for the Farmers Market was damaged. No suspects.

2:05 am police warned a 37 year old male for having open liquor at Green and Highland St.

3:00 am police received information that an intoxicated person was attempting to drive her vehicle. The female was located in the driver’s seat of her vehicle at a local motel. The vehicle was running and officers blocked it with their cruiser and turned it off and took the keys of the female’s vehicle. She was arrested for Care and Control Over 80 mgms and taken to the police office for a breathalyzer. She provided readings of 100 mgms and 100 mgms, 80 mgms is the legal limit. Lindsay SAULT, 32 years of Hagersville was charged with Care and Control Over 80 mgms and received a 90 day ADLS driver’s licence suspension.

11:47 am police responded to a motor vehicle collision in the Canadian Tire parking lot. No injuries, approx $2500 damage.

8:20 pm police received complaint of a woman slumped over the steering wheel in a vehicle in Southampton. After investigation the female was arrested for Care and Control of the motor vehicle and taken to the station for a breathalyzer. She provided readings of 120 mgms and 110 mgms; the legal limit is 80 mgms. Margo Jackson 50 years of Saugeen Shores was charged with Care and Control of a Motor Vehicle Over 80 mgms, she was issued a 90 day ADLS drivers licence suspension and her vehicle was impounded for 7 days.
