Possible Witness Sought Following Serious Dirt Bike Collision In Vaughan

Investigators with the York Regional Police Major Collision Investigation Unit are seeking a possible witness that may have seen the boy riding his dirt bike prior to a serious collision in the City of Vaughan.

On Sunday, June 12, 2016, at 6:50 p.m., investigators with the Major Collision Investigation Unit were called to the Kortright Centre, located in the area of Pine Valley Drive and Major Mackenzie Drive West for a serious injury collision involving a dirt bike. The rider, a 16-year-old boy from the City of Vaughan had been transported to hospital suffering from life-threatening injuries. Investigators believe that the injured rider and a friend were both riding dirt bikes on the private driveway of the Kortright Centre. For reasons still under investigation, the 16-year-old’s dirt bike left the roadway and ended up down a ravine. The 16-year-old remains in hospital in life-threatening condition.

Investigators have learned that there may have been a witness who saw the two boys riding their dirt bikes prior to the collision and are asking that this person come forward.

Possible witness description:

Male, tanned

Approximately 60 years

Grey hair

Was riding a mountain bike westbound on the driveway entering the Kortright Centre

Would have ridden past the two boys that were on their dirt bikes

Investigators are requesting public assistance to share this information with anyone that may have been riding a mountain bike in that area after 6 p.m. on Sunday, June 12, 2016.
