Portion of Scott Line Now Closed Due To Flooding

(HURON COUNTY, ON) -Thick fog, heavy rain and flooding conditions in some parts of the county have made for difficult driving conditions for those travelling throughout the region today. Three roadways in Huron County are currently closed due to flooding, they are as follows:

· C Line Road south of Wroxeter between McDonald Line and Johnston Line

· Currie Line west of Blyth between Moncrieff Road and Westfield Road

· Scott Line northwest of Blyth between Westfield Road and Nature Centre Road

Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is reminding drivers to exercise caution while travelling.

Turn on your full lighting system during any inclement weather, regardless of time of day. Although you will have daytime running lights your tail lights do not automatically engage unless you turn on your headlights.

Reduce speeds on wet road ways; stopping distances will increase on wet or icy roads and extra space must be provided between vehicles.

If you begin to hydroplane, look and steer in the direction you wish to go, take your foot off of the accelerator. Do NOT panic. Remain calm.

Plan ahead – check with local media, municipal or county websites or call 511 for provincially maintained road closures.

Call police if you encounter an unsafe road condition.

Take the extra time required to arrive safely at your destination. In an emergency, pull over and dial 9-1-1. For non-emergencies, please contact police at 1-888-310-1122.
