Police Set Up Moving Containment To Stop Impaired Tractor Trailer Driver

(MIDDLESEX COUNTY, ON) – On the 28th of February 2017 around 12:35p.m. Elgin County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint of a tractor trailer being all over the road on the 401 eastbound around Dutton, ON.

Elgin County OPP officers located the tractor trailer and attempted to stop it. The tractor trailer failed to stop for police and continued towards London, ON on the 401.

The tractor trailer was seen moving from rumble strip to rumble strip. Elgin County officers and Middlesex County officers were able to set up a moving containment, close on ramps to the 401 in London area and bring the tractor trailer to a stop after the Colonel Talbot exit.

The 401 was briefly closed down when officers executed the arrest of the driver.

At this time one male driver is in custody for impaired operation of a motor vehicle. No police or other vehicles were damaged in the course of the stop.

The investigation is ongoing at this time and further charges are a possibility.
