Police Officers conduct joint enforcement blitz with OC Transpo

(Ottawa) A one day community safety enforcement project on the Transitway involving Ottawa Police East District officers and OC Transpo Special Constables resulted in 28 charges.

During the evening of April 25th, officers addressed various municipal, provincial, and criminal offenses occurring on OC Transit vehicles and connecting properties. The teams monitored activities in the Blair Station, Billings Bridge, Place D’Orléans, South Keys and Hurdman Stations.

“We take the safety and security of our transportation networks very seriously and this project was aimed at reinforcing our commitment to hold violators accountable,” said Insp. Pat Flanagan, Ottawa Police Service. “The Ottawa Police Service and OC Transpo work together regularly and this effort is a great example of that collaboration.”

A zero tolerance approach was taken in regards to violators with full uniform deployment for visibility. The following results were achieved:

Charges:
• 1 Liquor License Act
• 27 City of Ottawa Bylaw (Failure to Produce Proof of Payment)
These types of projects are undertaken throughout the year and will be repeated on future dates.
