On Wednesday, August 19, a Waterloo Regional Police officer on a bicycle was struck by a fleeing vehicle following a traffic stop on Main Street in Cambridge. The suspect had been involved in several fail to stop incidents in both Kitchener and Cambridge, over the past several weeks. The Central Division CORE team and South Division Crime Management Team tracked the movements of the suspect to the area of North Bay and alerted the OPP. As a result, on August 21, the OPP located and arrested the accused, a 34 year old man from Kitchener, near North Bay. He is scheduled to appear in court in North Bay on Monday, August 24, on separate charges and then be returned to Kitchener where charges relating to the August 19 incident are pending.
